With ethics in mind, we take the time to make sure your bow setup is optimal before venturing into the hunting field. The main Lodge provides a shooting range to test all equipment after travelling, and our team of knowledgeable staff are skilled in adjusting and tuning bows as needed. Our Professional Hunters will also go over proper shot placement, acceptable shooting distance and help with identifying trophy size of targeted animals.
Once an animal has been shot, the recovery team is called in. The Professional Hunter will then make the determination on how to proceed based on the shot placement, blood trail, and other factors. A professional tracker, along with tracking dogs are among our dedicated staff and will be brought to the site if needed.
Once the animal has been located and you have had the opportunity to capture the moment with a few photographs, the hunter can either return to the same blind or be relocated to a new one. The animal will then be carefully loaded on one of our vehicles and brought to our skilled skinners to properly prepare your trophy for however you choose to have it memorialized.
You are welcome to bring your own crossbow or rent one from African Barefoot Safaris. The bolts should be well-constructed with a fixed two blade or a well-constructed mechanical broadhead.
Transporting your bow during travel is hassle-free. As it is categorized as archery sporting equipment, no documentation is required. It is important to label your bow case accordingly. There are no restrictions on the number of arrows and broadheads that you can bring along, but keep in mind that broadheads must be packed in your checked luggage.
Please note that Amsterdam prohibits the transportation of broadheads. If you plan to travel through Europe, please make arrangements beforehand to ensure that they can obtain broadheads for you.
